What is ALEO
Aleo is a platform that offers completely private applications to the world! How does this work? The team achieves this through cryptographic tools with zero-knowledge proofs and a decentralized system. All of this is done to keep user data safe on the internet! Aleo offers tools with absolute privacy!
Why it was created?
Aleo was primarily created for the internet, and it doesn’t aim to replace existing solutions; it was designed to integrate with them. For users, Aleo offers new possibilities, primarily in terms of privacy: applications can be truly personal and private. For developers, Aleo presents a programming model that can integrate with existing web applications.
The team has developed Aleo Studio, the first Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for creating applications with zero-knowledge proofs.
The application is designed to simplify the development cycle. Internally, it connects you to the network, which significantly streamlines all testing and transaction publishing on the network. To further simplify this process, a package manager was created for Leo (the programming language).
Aleo Package Manager is the first package manager for zero-knowledge chains. It is integrated with Aleo Studio, making it incredibly simple to import and publish new packages without leaving the editor.
The team’s goal for Leo is to establish it as a standard programming language for building private applications on the internet.
Aleo identifies at least three problems with existing blockchains:
- They are not suitable for real-world applications.
- Technologies should not evolve for the sake of themselves.
- New technologies attract players who complicate the value proposition of the technology itself.
Aleo considers the idea of creating smart contract mixers on Ethereum to be fundamentally flawed. Without privacy, these applications cannot fully protect user data. The lack of privacy is the main obstacle to complying with operational rules, so blockchains that are confidential by default are needed, and Aleo steps in to provide this.
For Aleo, the development of any technology is only worthwhile if it solves a real-world problem, while various ecosystems are created as a solution in search of problems.
In the view of the Aleo team, to demonstrate the value of a new technology, it should initially be fully open-source without any permissions. Creating technology that is entirely controlled by one company is not considered a reliable solution.
Hope I could explain to you some key facts about this amazing project!
