It's the start of 2019 and gamers and game developers alike are making a checklist of games to watch out for. Like any other year, game developers are punching above their weights to bring about the best games to the market. Gaming media giants such as Gamasutra, IGN and Kotaku, are already buzzing with hype as updates on the latest triple-A games that are predicted to be the biggest hits this year trickle in.
Every day we inch a little bit closer to release dates and we’re sure gamers can't wait either! Blockbuster hits such as Far Cry: New Dawn, Anthem, and, Cyberpunk 2077 are set to storm PC & Console games market with their intense media and fanbase following (we expect nothing less).
But what about the mobile gaming segment? We’ve heard the buzz, we've watch the momentum pick up. With the ever-growing mobile market segment, which games will claim the throne and reign supreme as the mobile gaming king of 2019?
Here are some of our top picks of recent and upcoming games that are set to rake in the big bucks! (in no particular order).
Ragnarok Online Mobile
Ragnarok Online is definitely not a new name when it comes to veteran gamers. First released on August 2002 on PC, Ragnarok became a global phenomenon that sparked the MMO craze. Being translated into multiple locales and eventually even an animated series, Ragnarok the Animation, and a sequel game, Ragnarök Online II, it is no surprise that the ported version received overwhelming support in its launch month. As the mobile port “Ragnarok M: Eternal Love” just launched globally on the 9th of January 2019, it is a strong contender in the mobile games industry bringing a familiar full-fledged MMO experience to the mobile platform.
Diablo Immortal
Another fierce contender would be Diablo Immortal. With the fierce controversy and backlash surrounding its initial launch announcement, Diablo Immortal got off to a rocky start. However, this doesn't mean that the game isn't set to do well. Although Blizzard may have forgotten that their main core audience were hardcore PC & Console players, the gaming giant is moving in the right direction as dictated by market growth and gaming devices. That being said, the release date and schedule of Diablo Immortal is pretty much in full speculation right now (classic Blizzard style) and we are sure that the game will have a massive following when launched similar to all previous games of the Diablo franchise.
Candy Crush Saga
As a long term member of the billionaire club, Candy crush saga appearing in this list is no mistake at all. Ever since their launch on April 12th in 2012, Candy Crush has been rocking the leaderboards in the puzzle category of mobile games bringing in consistent huge revenue and enjoyment to millions of players worldwide. We see no difference this year and with their constant new content and loyal player fanbase, Candy Crush will continue their dominance in 2019.
Fortnite Mobile
Fortnights success was akin to a rocket straight for the moon following the explosive craze in the Battle Royale genre. Its mobile counterpart is no different reaching billion-dollar revenues in record time. In fact, in a bold and daring move, Epic games even removed themselves from the Google play store and hosted the game files by themselves because their revenue grew to be so big that Epic games would rather not give Google 30% of every in-app purchase. That being said, the Battle Royale craze is still riding strong and we foresee this to carry on throughout 2019.
