Being a Designer with real ADHD

Gifted people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder were built for risk-taking, creativity and curiosity, and it’s theorized possible cognition of hunter-gatherer skills that preceded farming societies. They are usually on-the-go whether that’s getting lost in their minds, or lost walking and running around the streets. It is a personality trait that is often incompatible with modern society where we sit in desks for long hours completing tasks that are either 100% interesting or 0% interesting to us that day.

Those with ADHD have little grasp on time, impulses, and consequences. Every day we must make time with our best hacks, re-write negative shame-talk, and do our best to stick to a routine for the sake of others at least. We try very hard making lists, setting multiple reminders, life-logging, and having others hold us accountable to do the basics like brush teeth, eat, sleep, wake, go to to work, and finish a thing. And no, it does not come automatically to us and we aren’t trying to be lazy or rude, although I always feel like I am being lazy or rude. I guess you could say I just have a lot of side-quests to attend to.
