The Quest 3, a replacement for its trendy VR headgear, the Quest 2, has been launched by Meta, formerly known as Facebook. At $499, it costs $200 more than its predecessor but has many improvements. One of the most important is the “passthrough” function, which allows users to instantly see the outside world inside a virtual environment, improving comfort and usefulness over time. Additionally, the gadget has “pancake lenses” for better, more detailed photos. The whole experience is enhanced with better controllers that provide better haptic feedback. The Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 CPU, which powers the Quest 3, produces screens with a resolution of 2,064 x 2,208 pixels per eye.

The Quest 3 is primarily a gaming headset, with over 500 games and apps available from Meta. A Ghostbusters game, an Assassin’s Creed adventure, and a Stranger Things game created in association with Netflix are among the notable titles.

Apple, slated to debut its Vision Pro headset, will compete with Meta in the VR market. Apple presents the Quest 3 as a computer despite the device’s emphasis on games. By matching or closely resembling many of Apple’s features, Meta’s cheaper pricing plan aims to increase VR’s accessibility for a broader range of users. Almost 10 million Quest 2 units were sold the year before, a tiny decrease from the epidemic peak but still a massive success for Meta.

With the release of Quest 3, Meta is positioned as a significant player in the VR market, hoping to take advantage of its affordability and gaming prowess despite opposition from Apple, the industry leader in technology.
