Writing 25 Headlines for ‘Heart Eyes for Holtzmann’

Popularity or marketability on social media, like any other social scenario, has certain rules or tips that can make you more interesting. Headlines can either attract a wide audience or turn them away. When it came to creating 25 new headlines for ‘Heart Eyes for Holtzmann’, I had to consider what information was in the post and what audience I wanted to reach. I knew using the words Holtzmann, Queer, and Ghostbusters were key to my audience (and humor couldn’t hurt).

I tweeted the original article with my top three favorite headlines; in an order so that my favorite was the last one tweeted and on the top of my page.

It’s pretty clear that the order I tweeted these in was important like I thought it would be. When you are tweeting the same article three times, it makes sense that the top one with the best headline gets more attention. I used the same hashtags on all three but the words in the headlines of #1 and #2 got results from searches. The #1 tweet got more attention because another account retweeted it. Even without a retweet the second headline got a fair amount of attention. But the third, my least favorite of the three didn’t get any because the tags and the headline are fairly generic.
