Long Details:

So, you did started with Bitcoin.. yeah, dreaming about lambo or to earn thousands percents of profit? Don’t look at Bitcoin like this, you should look at Bitcoin as long term future thing and do not worry about drastic price changes. You’ve probably already heard that Bitcoin is like digital gold, which might be secure investment or fund holding for the future, so keep with this idea.

If you want to buy Bitcoin, you will have to create your Bitcoin wallet first. Each Bitcoin wallet consists of two keys: Private and Public. The most important is to have secure wallet which private key is properly hidden from kidnappers, i will introduce all secure wallets. But first you have to know what private and public keys are:

  1. A private key is a secret number that allows bitcoins to be spent. Every Bitcoin wallet contains one or more private keys, which are saved in the wallet file. The private keys are mathematically related to all Bitcoin addresses generated for the wallet.
  2. A bitcoin wallet address is a hashed version of your public key. If you want to receive Bitcoin, you have to tell someone bitcoin address. It’s like bank account. Just Bitcoin address is public and you are able to track all transaction from or to this address.

Bitcoin wallets

There are three major types of Bitcoin wallets: online, hardware and paper:

Paper wallet

This is an example of Bitcoin paper wallet

We already know that Bitcoin wallet consists of private and public keys. So, you just need to generate your both keys and hold them somewhere securely. You are able to generate your private and public keys here, i recommend you do it here:

Go into the site above, and before generating your Bitcoin keys, disconnect from internet. Then go back to that generator and move your mouse until you see 100%, after few seconds you will see your new generated Bitcoin address and Private key. The most secure way is to write it down them on the paper by hand. Double if you wrote your private key correct. Then for security reasons I advice you to clear your browser’s cache and cookies. That’s it, you have your new Bitcoin wallet and you are able to transfer or receive Bitcoin. By the way, if you want to transfer your funds from the wallet, you will have to download p2p online wallet and import your private key. While you’re just holding BTC, don’t do nothing except store your private key secure.

Hardware wallets

This is Hardware wallet Ledger Nano S

There are many hardware wallets providers, but most popular are Ledger and Trezor. You will have to go to their sites and order hardware wallet directly. It cost around 80 euro and it might take some time while they send you it. They’re often out of stock.

Buy Ledger wallet here: https://www.ledgerwallet.com/

Buy Trezor wallet here: https://shop.trezor.io/

Don’t buy hardware wallets from 3rd part shops. I recommend to buy hardware wallet only from manufacturer Ledger or Trezor directly.

Online wallets

Bitcoin online wallets

There are many online wallets in the market. Also, there are many scam wallets, so you have to be very careful before downloading and using your online wallet. Before you download bitcoin wallet from the internet, make sure you are in the right place and not phishing site. I have my favorite online wallets which are tested and quite secure:

  1. Electrum https://electrum.org/#download (Mac OSX, Win, Linux, Android)
  2. Exodus https://www.exodus.io/releases/ (Mac OSX, Win, Linux)
  3. GreenAddress https://greenaddress.it (Mac OSX, Win, Linux, iOS, Android, Web)
  4. Jaxx https://jaxx.io/downloads.html (Mac OSX, Win, Linux, iOS, Android, Web)

Be careful before downloading and scan your devices from viruses.
