SKYCOIN EVENTS UPDATES

The Skycoin event team has been very busy trying their best to inform the world about recent developments and updates in the Skycoin project.

Under the able leadership of Daken freeborn and his dope crew, they have been organizing and attending crypto seminars and conferences all around the world.
Daken has selected a team consisting of a good mix of introverts and extroverts and he is able to communicate proactively and effectively.
This Hardworking team meets periodically to exchange ideas on how best to achieve strategic priorities and improve processes and procedures. They also look for areas of overlap and eliminate redundancy.
They constantly discuss what they’re doing that doesn’t provide value.
Remove steps that no longer apply when a platform changes, and make sure each person documents everything, so a new person can step in quickly.

The Skyfleet team remove thought-filters and allow ideas to cross-fertilize to see what kinds of interesting hybrids result. The result of their hard work is what you are seeing now, as Skycoin that was relatively unknown seem to be gaining all the headlines in the last few weeks.
This piece is a summary of the latest conferences that were attended sponsored and featured Skycoin as a major cryptocurrency to watch out for in the last few months.

CRYPTOYACHT

This special and exclusive event was held on Wednesday, October 24th, 2018 at Dock 52, Fiji Way, Marina del Rey, and CA.
Sponsors for this event included Skycoin, Blockchain beach, Xanadu, BNFT and receipt chain to mention but a few.

The Crypto Yacht is an on-going series to support social good, non-profits and tech projects with impactful missions to make the world a better place for all.

The Skycoin team was led by the one and only Daken Freeborn, Ed Vilderman, Drew and our beautiful skyfleet ladies.

It was a perfect occasion for Daken and the rest of the team to announce to the participant’s developments within the Skycoin project. While most other projects are disappearing because of the harsh conditions cryptocurrencies are currently experiencing, He used the occasion to announce that Skywire was almost complete and we are at the final stage of the testnet.

He also made them aware that the CX textbook the programming language was complete and that Skycoin already has over 9000 nodes on Skywire barely 3 months into its testnet.

Skycoin showstopper the Skyminer was again the major gadget the participants wanted to see. While they all signed up for the Skyminer, which has over 5000 on the waiting list, Daken directed them to the Skywug group that is responsible for giving useful advice and direction in building the DIY miners .

MALTA BLOCKCHAIN SUMMIT NOV 1–2 2018

Malta Blockchain Summit was advertised to be one of the blockchain events of the year, and it did not disappoint. From the 1st to the 2nd of November 2018, almost 8500 blockchain and crypto enthusiasts descended upon the island of Malta for the first inaugural Malta Blockchain Summit. The conference kicked off with a speech from Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat declaring, “The seed of blockchain has landed on a very fertile soil.

We are doing everything necessary for the seed to grow.” Additionally, there were some big names on the docket for speakers in this conference including John McAfee, Brandon Synth, Charles Hoskinson, Scott Stornetta, John Matonis to name a few.

The summit has been organized with the support of the Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat who opened the Malta Blockchain Summit with a speech:
“In Malta, we are building the necessary quarter’s and channels in order to make good use of the force of nature that this technology is going to provide, and that is why I believe that Malta has become one of the centers of these new technologies”.

The conference was comprised of four main parts: 1) Regulatory & Governance, 2) Marketing & Investment, 3) Devs & Technology, and 4) Tokenomics & Cryptos.
One thing about this conference that noticeably stood out from other blockchain conferences is the diversity of people there. From the exhibition booths, the ICO pitches, and speakers, it was clear that people had traveled far and wide to come to Malta.

The Highlight of the conference was the debate on the ‘Dark Side of the Coin’ with Skycoin founder, Brandon ‘Synth’ Smietana chaired by Monty Munford, founder of agency Mob76, who led the discussion along with computer security expert John McAfee.
McAfee talks absolute sense, his opinion isn’t merely the classic soundbites he’s become infamous for.

McAfee, speaks with verve about the amazing opportunity the whole Blockchain and Cryptocurrency space offers to humanity, but he adds a sense of caution that people need to be diligent.b

Synth charmed the world with his candor, freshness, and openness. It was like a father discovering the son he has been looking for.

This particular event may have been the best public relations activity for Skycoin this year because at the end of the day, John Mcafee fell in love with Skycoin and everything it stands for .
A lifelong advocate of personal freedom, McAfee has been a vocal critic of privacy invasion and encryption backdoors with a deep understanding of cybersecurity and an inherent distrust of any centralized institution, The message of Skycoin resonated so much with his belief that a day after the conference, he took to his twitter that has over 800k followers to declare that Skycoin was one of the best “digital projects” to have entered the crypto sector in the recent past.

The crypto big dad said during the weekend “I am on board and partnering with the folks at SkyCoin.net and their amazing product line. My heart and mind resonate with their efforts. For those of you who want to trash me and label my efforts as “shilling”, you may, with my full permission and support, fuck off.”

He has never partnered with a project before but Skycoin is the perfect project he has been looking for in the crypto space.
Arguably the closest thing to a rock star the Cryptocurrency sector has, McAfee has been the pantomime villain, a fugitive, undoubtedly an innovator and an enigma.
This man is a force, a walking talking bundle of electro-static energy that just consumes the atmosphere and the environment around him. Love him, or hate him, you just have to listen to him when he talks.
There was something he said at that debate ‘ “Spend the fucking money” is his plea. Sitting on your bitcoins does nobody any good he exclaims. Get out there and spend it, use it, force it to become the unadulterated, incorruptible, monetary system that is driven by mathematics and not corrupt human beings and a financial system built on a debt policy.

The whole idea of using Skycoin to pay for bandwidth is something that really fascinated him.
The fact too that Skycoin is also providing decentralized internet thereby putting the power of the internet back into the hands of the consumers is something that really pleased Mr. Mcafee.
McAfee went ahead and got the Skycoin logo tattooed onto his back that was also picked up by blockchain finance guru Ari Paul. He wrote, ‘Why Skycoin? If you have to ask, you’ve been living in a fucking closet.’

He showed up a massive back tattoo with Skycoin inscription, saying his tech folks will shoot a two-minute video detailing the essence of the experience.

.

Yes, of course, I am working with Skycoin. More than that, I have partnered with them , something I have never before done in the crypto https://t.co/Z7UjCKjXfX's why: pic.twitter.com/RrxVMf2PFG

The Malta blockchain summit was a big success and while it featured a lot of companies, it must be said that only Skycoin seem to have a functioning ecosystem.

The Skyminer, as usual, took center stage and people were eager to find out how soon it will take over the Internet .

Skycoin is one of the only projects that is actually developing or building anything.
Not only did we build the Skyminer, but we also have a hardware wallet and we have antennas for the Skyminer for the mesh net.

Have developers, their blockchain, a platform, a programming language and we are one of the only companies who have revenues, customers, and hardware.

WEB SUMMIT LISBON PORTUGAL — November 5 — November 8 2018

This is gradually becoming one of the biggest technological events in the whole world.
Organisers of the Web Summit have announced that the event will remain in Lisbon until at least 2028 following a €110m deal with the Portuguese government.
The annual event, which moved to the Portuguese capital in 2016 on an initial three-year basis, expects to see its capacity more than double as part of the deal by 2022.

The announcement follows a competitive tendering process, which saw more than 20 major cities across Europe offer to host the conference, including Berlin, Paris, London, Madrid, and Milan.
However, the Web Summit’s Irish organizers will receive €11m a year to keep the event in Lisbon on a ten-year basis.
They also agreed a €3 billion buyout clause with the Portuguese government, which is expected to be the minimum amount the event will make for the country over the next decade.

This year’s Web Summit 2018 in Lisbon witnessed impressive giveaways in the form of free digital assets from various blockchain companies. The annual event hosted various A-list panelists including Pinterest’s CEO and Co-founder Ben Silbermann, Medium’s Ev Williams, Alexis Kerry Ohanian is an American Internet entrepreneur and investor, who is co-founder and executive chairman of the social news website Reddit, Mike Massimino, the first man to tweet from space, Paige VanZant
and a number of prominent executives from the tech industry, startups, media, and investors.

The conference was attended by close to 70,000 participants, from 159 countries and addressed by 1,200 speakers. Among them were 1,800 start-ups, 1,500 tech investors and representatives from 2,600 media outlets, all on a single platform. The scale and reach of Web Summit compelled crypto companies to make their presence felt.

Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Christopher Wylie had some harsh words at the Web Summit conference here for the business he had chosen and the company whose data he had once helped exploit for that now-bankrupt research firm.
“Facebook, it has so much power at its disposal, it is making a digital clone of our society,” he said to British newscaster Krishnan Guru Murthy in a panel last Tuesday afternoon. He compared Facebook’s conquest of social media to European colonizers’ conduct across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, calling it “our generation’s East India Company.”
Wearing an “Arrest the President” hoodie, Wylie demanded regulations for social media.
“If we can regulate nuclear power, why can’t we regulate some code?” he asked as the audience cheered.
That was a common sentiment at Web Summit. For instance, United Nations secretary general António Guterres warned in a speech last Monday night that “the weaponization of artificial intelligence is a serious danger.”

Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee, for example, used the Berners-Lee keynote that opened the conference Monday night to call for companies, governments and Internet users to unite around a “Contract for the Web.”

Its nine principals call for meeting such goals as protecting privacy, providing universal Internet access, keeping the Internet open and universal (Berners-Lee has called for net-neutrality protections before), and building online social systems that impede harassment and hate speech but promote constructive conversations.
“As an individual, you need to hold those companies accountable,” Berners-Lee said. “You need to hold those governments accountable.”
The U.S. government may not lead on those issues, but the European Union seems prepared to. EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said in a keynote Wednesday.
“There’s no need to ask people to give up values like privacy, democracy, fairness in the name of innovation,” she said. “The real guarantee of an innovative future comes from keeping markets open.”
In a press conference afterward, she defended the EU’s sweeping General Data Protection Regulation, which requires companies to let their customers see, edit or delete most data collected about them. Vestager said the GDPR’s principles, if not its extensive details, continue to draw interest on the other side of the Atlantic.
“I find that there is sort of an increased questioning and curiosity on what we’re doing in Europe,” she said.
I have decided to highlight those speeches as they resonate clearly with what Skycoin is trying to do with the free decentralized net neutral Internet.

The Skycoin team did comprising of Daken, Ed, Drew, Danish and Hamza did there best represent Skycoin and again the Skyminer was the center of attraction.

Based on the previous discourse above, even the inventor of the internet realized he made a mistake with the present internet and Skycoin is at the moment providing the correction and the way he wanted the original internet to be
The Skyminer was the showstopper again as even the cops took time off duty to admire the fine piece of technology.

Even Statues bow down before the Skyminer .

The Chief organizer of web summit Paddy Cosgrave was so enthralled that he did a 15-minute interview with Daken.

Daken described the Skycoin ecosystem in which development started in 2011 and Skycoin is one of the few cryptocurrencies with its own blockchain. He went further to describe that the beauty of the Skycoin blockchain Fiber is every project gets its own blockchain.

He asked anybody who cared to do any research to go check the Skycoin Github repos and discover the numerous projects in Skycoin.
He also let them know that the Skywire testnet, which has been running since May is almost completed, and Mainnet will be launched in a matter of weeks. He disclosed that they are already over 9000 nodes running on the Skywire network .

He explained that Skycoin has a lot of hardware and software product and despite the lull in the market, optimum development is taking place.
He showcased the antennae, hardware wallet prototypes and informed them of the availability of a mobile android and IOS wallet.

IOS Mobile wallet .

Below is a short video of what the team did at Lisbon Portugal.

It is important to note that this team just started proper marketing some 4 months ago and considering what they have achieved in such a short time, we should applaud and appreciate their devotion and sacrifice to the course of this project.

It must be noted that a lot of connections were made in all these conferences and details will come to light in the coming days.
In conclusion, while the market is bleeding today, I would say hang on tight and wait for some stupendous announcements from the team.
A flurry of good things is happening for Skycoin. Watch the space .
