Have you ever had one of those days where everything somehow worked in your favor? Where something positively changes up your everyday routine?
Life as a full time college student is always go-go-go. Sometimes it feels like you never get a break. That’s why when life throws you a good curveball, you take it.
One Friday a few weeks ago, I caught this curveball. It was the end of a long week, jam packed with endless studies and exams. I felt like I was constantly gasping for air. Right when my head hit the pillow at night, I was immediately woken up the next morning, all to repeat the day once again.
Once Friday came around, I was beat, but I had to finish the week out strong and get through my classes, which luckily ended at 1pm that day. When I walked into my second class, my professor had a short activity for us and then let us have a free period to simply do what we pleased. She wanted to give us that time to reflect on our lives and enjoy the Friday sun.
This was quite honestly a godsend for me. Whether my professor realized it or not, I needed this one hour break in my day. I could not have been more grateful. I ordered an iced coffee for myself, went out to the quad, and sat and soaked up the sun’s warmth. During this time, I called my mom, who I hadn’t talked to all week because I was crazy busy. And this was another godsend because it felt like God was speaking right through her to me. Everything she told me during that conversation was exactly what I needed to hear at that moment.
By the end of that hour, I felt such joy and at such peace that I never wanted it to leave. Having that time to just rest, enjoy nature, and have a deep conversation with another person was just what I (never knew) I needed.
