7 Rules of Life

You are not broken. Whatever you have gone through to get to this point, do not feel as though you are hopeless. Many of us have gone through life-changing and challenging times, so guess what? You aren’t the only one. What leads many of us astray is that empty feeling, as if we were no good or that something is wrong with you. We second guess ourselves and doubt that things will really get any better. From personal experiences, a tragedy or loss in your life can be devastating. You might feel as though you have to accept it and move on somehow, or cope with it through other vices. That’s a concrete way to look at it. Or you can take a different perspective; learn from it. Take that experience and see how you can grow from it and improve yourself.

I recently found these 7 Rules of Life which really break things down to some key points:

1. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

2. What others think of you is none of your business.

3. Time heals almost everything, give it time.

4. Don’t compare your life to others and don’t judge them. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

5. Stop thinking too much, it’s alright not to know the answers.

6. No one is in charge of your happiness, except you.

7. Smile, you don’t own all the problems in the world.

Now I don’t advocate this as the set rules for living, but I feel it makes you stop and think about it for a moment. Everyone has challenges throughout their lives, and you are not the only one who may feel lost or broken. Finding the light in the darkness is the only way to get out. Some have a different way to get around it, but everyone follows a path of their choosing to get around an obstacle. I leave you all with a great quote from author Ryan Holiday:

“The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Never forget, within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve our condition.”

And remember folks,

Stay the course.
