Four months of s/passion/code/
Code has such power that it can prevent you from blogging. Things are pretty busy even if I earn almost no money with this new startup projet.
Four months of Python and Go code, fighting GUI with my ugly skills in web design.
Let me check my Git histoiry: 218 commits, something like 15000 lines of code. And I have deployed code in production a hundred time.

Nerd introduction, done.
How much do Pikacloud make ?
Well, business is not running that bad. I now have 90 customers. However 50% of them will be suspended on Monday because they have tried Pikacloud services and owe us money since their January invoice.

I have put in production the invoice system in January. So I have sent invoices for the January period.
Fun fact:
I received some user complaints after their first monthly invoice because they have tried a load balancer and then gave up the idea of using it. I deleted paid services from their account and clear their account balance. Yup, do not forget to clean useless resources on paid services.

Four months of code can be summarize as:
- Website UI and UX improvements, clean and sleek design as I’m not talented enough in web design,
- Features enhancements for customers: HTTPS load balancers and certificates manager.
It sounds light, isn’t it ? But in the meantime I have achieved some goals:
- Replaced InfluxDB by ElasticSearch for time series,
- I’m learning Go as I’m near to finish a Terraform provider for Pikacloud. The public API is not released yet but it should be in production by the end of February. Test-driven development is a must-have when you build an API for your backend and write libraries for the client part,
- achieved infrastructure monitoring as code with Collectd+Graphite+Grafana in addition of my regular Kibana used mostly to visualise logs and events,
- Put Jenkins everywhere to automate and notify everything. I am definitely fond of Jenkins. Do you know Jenkins DSL ? It is a pretty awesome tool able to manage your jobs configuration as code. Open source is full of wonderful projects these days.
- Design and proof of concept for Pikacloud Bus: an upcoming service for messaging (something like Amazon SNS or “whateverMQ” as a service).
And now my todo list is pretty big.
