I would say killing off Quicksilver in AoU was Marvel maybe testing the waters for hero death.

And while I admit I did forget about QS dying in Age of Ultron, that further proves my point that the MCU is not embracing mortality. They literally INTRODUCED Quicksilver just to kill him off, giving the audience less than adequate time to build an emotional bond to a character who (pursuant to his super power) is there and gone instantly. Also, it’s not at all ballsy to kill off a character for whom audiences have a spare in another franchise.
