America’s Next Mobile Howitzer Is a Danger to Its Crew
War Is Boring
2112

This is not a new situation for the US Army’s artillery arm. In 1991, a number of Iraqi artillery units were equipped with the GC-45 howitzer, which had a longer range than any of the Coalition pieces. However, superior training and tactics enabled Coalition artillery crews to outshoot their adversaries. Technology and range are important, but it can also be compensated for by superior training and accuracy. While a new weapon is nice, one way to immediately make up for the loss in range is to make sure our crews are better trained than their potential adversaries.
