Hands up if you had a Nokia phone. Pretty much everyone did. They completely dominated the market for years. One thing that you never fell short of in your house, a friends house or your local pub was this.

They were everywhere. A factor to why you purchased a Nokia phone is because you knew you were never more than 10 meters from a charger.

Technology moved on and we got this:

We had never see a device like it. We fell in love. Yet, we already had a charger for it. It used the iPod 30 pin connector we were used to.

More and more people purchased the iPhone as it grew in generations. The technology became better.

We had gotten back to a stage of never being to far from a 30 pin iPhone charger. They were everywhere. Then this happened:

Apple had this thing. If the technology is better, it doesn’t matter, we’ll just go with it. All of a sudden, all of those 30 pin connectors became obsolete.

It’s happening again

Apple have now released new keyboards, mice, trackpads, TV units and more. All with one thing in common.

Remove replacing batteries, ship the device with internal rechargeable batteries and a lightening connector.

You cannot avoid getting a cable. Every household will soon have a lightning connector yet again. It’s here to stay.
