I’m Going For It

Seeing Clearly Isn’t Enough

I’ve worked in a diverse amount of companies. Some startups, some established medium sized business and large corporations. Those of you that have been following my story know the previous companies I’ve been involved with. If you don’t, follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat (brianbkenny).

One of the major driving forces behind starting my own gig (MiniCorp) is the speed and the work ethic was too slow for me at those places. It would drive me crazy. I’ve shouted to others in the past:

“Your going to slowly, why are you holding this back”.

I wanted to go at 160% and take that idea and make it into something tangible. I understand that not every idea is worth chasing. BUT when you have fully vetted, market fitting and viable idea you should run, like an absolute crazy person to try and make it happen.

Whatever stands in your way, run through or around it. Which ever is faster, I don’t mind just don’t slow down. If after a couple of months it’s gaining traction, review. Grab all of that feedback and make educated decisions. If it isn’t gaining traction, drop it. Don’t wait a year. Drop it.

I noticed in other companies that they wouldn’t diligently look after their cash or resources. They weren’t maximizing on their potential. Money would be spent on things that weren’t adding value. People were hired to do jobs but operating at 60%. It just made no sense.

At that point, I KNEW it was my time to take all of those learnings, create MiniCorp and apply my ethic to everything I do.

The People

The next, most phenomenal thing happened when I started to voice what I was doing. People gravitated towards it. It wasn’t the type of people that were operating at 60%, these were like minded, highly driven and exceptional people.

Steve and Alan have made more products happen in 3 months than I would have seen in those other companies in 2 years. That’s insane and I completely love it.

People don’t talk about regrets, but I have one. I wish I had left earlier. I wish I hadn’t fumbled the risk question for so long and had just stood up and went for it. I have the ability to see clearly how things can get done. I’m now following through on it.

I’m going for it. Are you?
