Blackboxer Spotlight: Shiva Bhardwaj

Pitstop // Canada // Blackbox Connect 17

Shiva began working as a technician in his father’s auto repair shop in at the age of 12. It was here that his vision to disrupt the auto maintenance industry began to take shape. After launching and distributing a safety tool called ShockLock to 1000 technicians across North America, Shiva set his sights on a new problem: predicting vehicle failures before they happen. He got to work building Pitstop, a platform which uses machine learning to transform the service industry from reactive to predictive, all while allowing dealerships to improve customer retention by enabling them to communicate with consumers off the lot.

A member of the Communitech hub in Kitchener, Canada (part of the Google for Entrepreneurs Partner Network), Shiva was nominated to participate in Blackbox Connect at an exciting moment in Pitstop’s growth. His experience coming together alongside fellow founders from across the globe to learn from key players in the Silicon Valley ecosystem was instrumental in realizing the importance of a core team and building his confidence as a decision maker. Having received several offers from investors interested in Pitstop around the time of his participation, Blackbox Connect helped Shiva navigate this process while feeling more empowered in his pursuit of value-aligned investments that match well with his startup’s growth strategy.

Shortly after returning home to Canada, Shiva secured two new revenue channels with major Canadian service provider franchises, entered into talks with several major auto parts manufacturers interested in exponentially growing their customer base through Pitstop’s technology, and made strategic hires to grow the company’s sales and engineering teams.

“Pitstop’s value is heavily driven by the Communitech, Google for Entrepreneurs, and Blackbox networks. I couldn’t imagine starting a company without such support.”

As Pitstop scales across the North American auto maintenance market and beyond, Shiva continues to draw strength from and contribute to the communities of which he’s a part, saying “There is a saying that your network is your net worth, and Pitstop’s value is heavily driven by the Communitech, Google for Entrepreneurs, and Blackbox networks. I couldn’t imagine starting a company without such support.”
