Welcome to Do Wales! Here’s your tent (and two strangers),

The bus stop is there, those Welsh roads are dangerous.

A sea of new faces, for some, fear descends,

But amidst coffee and chatter, there’s a chance for new friends.

So best flip-flop forward! What’s your name? What d’you do?

You’re a what? That’s done how? Should I have heard of you?

Wow! A forest school builder! A coffee importer!

A maverick lawyer and a boutique designer.

The sense of expectation hangs in the air –

‘To the barn everyone! Do is finally here!’

Hilarity, gasps, giggles, Bingo sets the bar high,

Many f*cks and c___ (no, can’t say that, however hard I try).

A whirlwind of speedometers, trades with Girl Friday,

Social entrepreneurship and an overload of imagery.

MCs extraordinaire offer up ‘yoga shit’ and rimming’

Mud flats are promised, hillside hot tubs and wild swimming.

Bar tabs are opened — ‘No cash? That’s no problem!

Give us your tent number and settle up later.’

Rogan Josh curry, (vegan options available),

With wine on tables helps conversation flowing.

A mind-blowing real poet as evening turns to night –

The gin bar is open, conversations develop by firelight.

Morning! Up and at ‘em! (with that ‘yoga shit’ and ‘rimming’)

Brew up! Caffeine hit! Minds ready to start fizzing.

A new way to consider the broken second oldest profession

Commons farming, coffee magic and a pilgrim sensation.

A beautiful lady doing more than one thing brilliantly

What a stark contrast to ‘61 — d’you still fancy me?’

Workshops,

Queen of shops,

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

Restaurant building,

Brand building,

Some time to work on me.

Talks on change, the Lebanon, the Haka and ABs,

What will you choose?

How will you love?

But it’s the third question which strikes me –

When will you start? And more so

What will you DO as a result of being here?

Are you a doer?

Are you a doner?

What’s your purpose before you’re a goner?

The bitterest thing about ‘do-ing’ today, could be the sadness of ‘goodbye’

Smiles, hugs, kisses — ‘Keep in touch!’ ‘Yes! I’ll try!’

Consider this my call to action, to everybody here

Don’t try — DO find the time, to keep those you’ve met here near.

The Do Collective, Do Lunch, Do Bristol but just do something!

Because now I realise, that actually, the worst thing would be — to do nothing.
