Eh, the way i see it is you guys should do it the way we do it here in Canada: Take a 2-day course in gun safety (~8hrs) and provide proof of sanity to get your FAC (Firearms Authorization Certificate), and ban automatics, short-barrel handguns and mags above 5 rounds (for rifles, it just doesnt make sense to apply that to handguns as well since theyre mostly built around a 12-round mag). Dont go the route of a DMV. Too many guns in one room, and you would need too many armed guards to keep it from becoming a bloodbath after the first slightly psychotic redneck got denied his license on the grounds of mental instability.
