The original was better. I'm not opposed to re-makes even though I feel them to be inadequate most of the time. The formula for this one just didn't hit the same. Add in so many other variables and I'm not surprised by such a polarized reaction by the public. Even the release time was off. Color Purple gives Easter/ mother's day vibes, not Christmas.
