What Happens When A Major Metro System Unexpectedly Shuts Down Its Rail Service?
Chelsea Kiene

As a non-resident fan of the DC Metro system, who also is concerned about equity issues, I’m glad you mentioned this, in this platform. I’m hoping for the best for today in DC, but I can’t be so sure. Generally when I visit, I’m in NoMA (which is now a sufficient neighbohrood and also in areas with plenty of bus and decent walking connections, along with bikeshare). Yet I have family and friends who are further out on both sides of the Metro, some with cars and extra money, others without. I am happy this new director seems to be taking charge and taking drastic measures to make sure people are safe. That can only help the system more.
