This compounded long dark night of the collective soul may be the very thing that impels us to choose a different path — to rise above and beyond the wheel of history in significant ways. But that choice is a conscious one. It requires the courage, willingness, tenacity, and commitment to deviate from the known, and trek boldly off the map. With a clear, collective intention, and a mandate for empathy and compassion, we very well could succeed.
Above all, we must believe and embrace the reality of interdependence. In this way, your beautiful point about nurturing and activating dialog between closed camps is the key. How to nurture and activate grounded, non-inflammatory, meaningful dialog is one of the deep questions (and action-items) of our time.
