Hey Keith, if you used a Google number then that explains why you weren’t able to complete the process. NIST explicitly prohibits VOIP numbers for identity proofing. VOIP numbers have little to no relationship to real identities and are highly correlated with fraud. You’ll need to use a number from a telecom that ties to a verified device with some degree of tenure that is in your possession to authenticate to the appropriate level of trust. As for blockchain, short answer is that it’s not nearly ready or ideal for identity for either authentication or authorization. I wrote a separate post about why on my Medium account.
