I think what you’re saying is so important — that the less we care about what others may think of us, the easier it is to be our authentic selves, because we’re not meant to cater to everyone. We’re only ever meant to cater to a select few. Call that our tribe or our friends, it doesn’t really matter. They’re the ones who our message is for.
But I think it’s important to care what our tribe’s reaction is to us. Because we’re doing it for them. We are telling our story for the people who were meant to hear it and have a reaction to it. We are vulnerable to stir something up in our readers, and in turn, have them inspire us.
