You Are Not An Aspiring Writer

You Are Much More Than That

I bet you want to create and inspire others with your words.

I bet you dream of being this amazing, insightful writer who can move worlds with their mind. And I bet you dream of creating something beautiful, inspiring, and lasting with this one life you have.

Because deep down, you know you’re powerful. You know you have worth and a message that needs to be spread.

Hell, I know you constantly aspire to be an amazing writer every single day. And I applaud you for that.

Yet you’re going about this whole writing thing the wrong way.

Because when you “aspire” to do anything, you run the risk of never actually doing the thing at all.

It all starts with how you approach the written word itself. Because your relationship to it will determine what you make of your writing career.

Stop ‘Aspiring’ to Be a Writer

“There is no such thing as an “aspiring writer”. You are a writer. Period.”― Matthew Reilly

The problem with aspiring is you place yourself beyond the outskirts of the amazing writer you want to be; instead, you become an outsider looking in at the potential of the writer you could be if you only had the talent or the discipline or the experience or the connections others so freely carry.

Would having any of that make a real difference in your writing, though?

There are no aspiring carpenters. No aspiring physicians or doctors or teachers. There simply are teachers, and there are not.

So what makes your writing any different?

You are a writer already — you are enough. Believe that to be true, and it is.

Yet if you don’t start now, you’ll never truly be that person you so badly want to be.

The Only Way to Be a Pro is to Do the Work

The problem is that by aspiring to write, you’re not actually writing. You’re not doing the work that needs to be done to become a great writer yourself.

The truth is, you’re already a writer unless you’re not writing anything at all.

The only thing you need to do to call yourself a writer is to write. That’s it.

There is nothing else to being a writer, and certainly no secret equation or formula to be successful in your work.

There is only writing and not writing. Thinking about writing and doing it. Wishing you could be a writer and actually doing the thing necessary to make you into what you desperately want to be.

Don’t be one of those writers who doesn’t actually write; instead, own your craft. Choose to be a master of your words and love yourself just the way you are. You are already capable of everything you dream yourself to be.

When you step into and embrace this power in yourself, your potential becomes limitless.

And through that acceptance, you will create works that will move the world.

Don’t Squander this Chance to Write

We have all the experiences within us to start writing our stories. We all the knowledge necessary to begin now.

The question is, will you use this opportunity to begin, or will you simply squander it again like before?

You have all the necessary tools to start now. You could literally not be in a world that is more equipped to suit your need to write or be heard.

So use it. Stop squandering these precious moments you are only guaranteed to have now.

Practicing at your craft is the one thing you can do every day that is guaranteed to get you results. Everything else is just smoke and mirrors keeping you from seeing the light of your writing prowess.

If you don’t practice, you’ll never become pro.

Your writing will never be perfect — but it doesn’t have to be. You can always edit it later (hell, that’s what editing is for).

If you never get your thoughts onto paper in the meantime, though, you will be stuck being an aspiring writer for the rest of your life.

Now is the Time to Act

You’re capable of being a creator. Of moving others with your words and generating limitless potential with your being.

But only if you stop playing small and own your persona as a writer capable of creating powerful works of art.

Stop aspiring to become that writer — instead, become it. You are already there inside. You know that to be true. I know you do.

All you need, then, is to give yourself a little push to unlock your creative abundance and create magic with your words.

So give yourself that gift and give it to yourself today. Stop waiting and start doing. Be that amazing writer you’re capable of being.

Because the longer you wait to uncover your message, the harder it’s going to be.
