Post-CES musings on drones
Jeevan Kalanithi

I am glad to hear you say that autonomy is for the most part the next major milestone (it would be too self-serving to say I agree). I wonder though how much the car industry will actually help the drone industry to get there. For one they will never have to deal with some of the major constraints that aerial flight has (payload). But also, I have recently been spending a bit more time investigating different ROS (the closest thing to an industry standard we have) packages, and I started noticing how heavy its legacy of dealing exclusively with 2D robots was. It’s basically all over the place. It worries me that ROS, or the car industry, might trap us into flying drones like we drive Roombas, far from what they are actually capable of.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
