Vuzix M300 Augmented Reality Smart Glasses: What you Need to Know
As augmented and virtual reality both become an everyday part of our business and professional lives, AR smart glasses will become increasingly popular, and so is remote assistance software.
One of the most popular AR smart glasses on the market today is the Vuzix M300 Augmented Reality Smart Glasses. Let’s take a look at these glasses in extensive detail by reviewing the specifications and features, as well as the overall consumer reviews of the product.

- Retailing for just under $1000, the glasses also come with a full range of proprietary accessories that are exclusive to the brand. Boasting itself as a “click, connect, collaborate” brand, the Vuzix glasses are easy to set up and easy to use.

Product Reviews
- PCMag is reporting that the popularity of the Vuzix glasses are on the rise because more mainstream businesses are finding usefulness in augmented and virtual reality glasses. What’s more, the Vuzix are entering into a wide-open market and its sole true competition is the Microsoft HoloLens, which is hailed as the “poster child” for the AR revolution.
- The outlet praised the glasses’ “sophisticated” black color, which served as a sleeker alternative to the “childish” looking Google Glass (a product which proved to be a flop in the enterprise world). What’s more, the glasses come with dual nose guards, which make them feel more like “regular” glasses than other AR and VR-based products on the market today. They are also helpful in live remote assistance.
- The glasses also have a feature that has proven favorable to the outlet: an adjustable camera, on the right side of the glasses.
- While this may seem like a minor feature, Lance Anderson — the Vice President of Vuzix’s Enterprise Sales — told the outlet that it’s a “hugely significant feature addition compared to the M100 line, particularly for doctors and field technicians who need to tilt the camera at a certain angle to record hands-on job activity.”
- Speaking of the camera, it can take still shots that are up to 13 MPX large, making it similar to a professional DSLR in terms of quality. The camera can also take up to 1080p video, also making it similar to a professional video camera in quality.
- And while the existing battery on the glasses has a maximum power life of about two (2) hours, Vuzix has partnered with GO Puck on an external battery pack that can extend the battery life to up to 12 hours. The outlet didn’t test this feature out, however, and these statistics were provided by the company directly.
- The glasses run an enterprise version of the Android Marshmallow 6.0 platform, and this syncs up to both Android and iOS-based platforms, making the Vuzix fully integrate regardless of the preferred platform.
- According to the outlet, the glasses run on an “Intel Atom CPU, and include integrated GPS, 2GB of system RAM, and 64GB of internal flash memory.” The glasses also provide voice control support in multiple languages due to the remote field support feature.
- The outlet reports that the glasses work best for small to mid-sized businesses, but Armstrong feels that the glasses’ “sweet spot” is for businesses that have around 1,500 employees. The glasses best serve people in industries that involve point of sale (POS) transactions, insurance companies, asset management, and supply chain, and industrial-grade manufacturing.
- Finally, the outlet reports that while the “real world” applications of the glasses are still evolving — as they’re not accepted as an “industry standard” quite yet — the glasses do feel much more “natural” than the HoloLens. They’re lighter and shaped like real glasses, and the “augmented reality” experience they provide is natural but not distractingly so, which is perhaps the most important element of augmented reality.
In short, while they may be a bit cost-prohibitive to a smaller business, or even to an individual, the Vuzix glasses are “simple and convenient with tangible value to your daily productivity.” This and the remote assistance software makes them more likely to be adopted into the general market in a few years, if not sooner.
