For its third year running, Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival is back from 16–18 November 2023 and is not only attracting musical talent of varied skill levels but also creators, metaverse enthusiasts, artists, gamers, digital fashion designers and other members of the general public to experience the cultural phenomenon that is here to stay.
What exactly is the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival?
Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival (MVMF) has made a name for itself as one of the biggest virtual music festivals currently out there. In previous years, the Festival has seen the likes of Björk, Ozzy Osbourne and Souljaboy as headlining acts, pulling in a diverse crowd of music lovers and metaverse goers both old and new to the scene.
This year’s theme is “Rebirth” which is fitting given the festival’s focus on propelling self-expression, growing the community and rejuvenating the artistic spirit.
The event promises to be just as immersively groundbreaking as previous years, with 16 teams of virtual creators and game designers crafting memorable experiences extending beyond music. There will be over 80 performances, games and parallel events, with headlining acts by Decentraland OGs including Cora Novoa, Trick Daddy, GuccieToe, Bufalo, Glitch Rave and Steve Sai. Not to mention, the event promises exquisite virtual light shows, a digital Neo-Techno Paganist rave, and synthetic humans overtaking the DJ scene. And entrance is completely free of charge.
Make sure to RSVP to the opening party called Soundscape Opening Jam on 16 November 2023 which promises to be an explosive gaming experience by the Decentraland Foundation. There will be stunning river scenes with floating objects that resonate with the beat of the music. The more you explore, the greater the chance of you finding instruments to craft your sounds. Activate them with rhythm stones by the river to contribute your slice of music to the giant musical loop housing everyone’s piece of sound.
What the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival means for artists and the community
Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival is not only an opportunity for more established artists to share their musical vision but it is also a place where budding artists are welcomed. To encourage participation from up-and-coming artists, Decentraland ran a competition for artists and creators to submit their creations to feature at the Festival which would invariably increase their visibility as artists and offer them a chance to be recognized by a global audience.
Not only that, the winners were set to win a cash prize, a 2x2 plot of LAND in the Music Festival Plaza, a Decentraland NAME and a feature in the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival’s official event programme. Decentraland is all about growing and empowering the community, and the best way to do so is by lowering the barriers to entry, especially when it comes to participating in major events. Initiatives like these are a step in the right direction to cultivating talent and onboarding new members to the community.
