November Update from Blockmove

Welcome to December! The pumpkin pie season is officially over and we are now on the countdown to Christmas. November has been another one of those productive months for Blockmove with plenty of development, partnerships and updates. So let’s jump into it!

The iconwat.ch explorer, Ganymede API

Before we start delving into the past, we’d really love some community feedback on something we are building. It’s obvious that ICON badly needs a dedicated explorer. The current one has a lot of issues, ranging from not being mobile friendly to running on a subdomain and everything in between.

ICON’s API is also lacking. Lacking documentation, proper output for a lot of things, just lacking. So we are building our own to go along with the explorer, something we will open source so everyone can build upon.

We will dedicate a post on this later on. At this point this is more like a pre-alpha build looking at what things we could output and how it could possibly look. So feel free to check it out and share your valuable feedback with us.

New set o’ toys!

As with every new month, we build every relevant mini-tool we come up with. This month, there’s five new of them:

Whale Alerts

This tool provides notifications whenever there is a new transfer of over 250,000 ICX. It can also recognize major exchanges (like Binance).

After the Nov 17/18 incident, it was clear this tool was badly needed. This bot will request the current block height from three separate nodes every minute, spaced around 15 seconds from each other. If the current height is the same during all three checks, it will notify that the chain has paused.

iScore Distribution

Currently only on Telegram, awaiting developer access to get on Twitter (@icxiscore).

This bot will notify upon the daily iScore distribution, along with a few Network Details.

Burn Penalty Tool

This little tool analyzes the downtime a P-Rep would need to get penalized.

According to some twitter/ telegram polls and posts, it became clear that a good number of Iconists fear the Burn Penalty. As per our previous article, this penalty might be quite uncommon. Most current Main P-Rep teams would need a continuous downtime of over 300 days, while most Sub P-Reps at least four months.

But if you’re still worried, you can still use our other tool, the P-Rep Productivity Notifier (no spam whatsoever), and get notified if things start going south.

Next Term is a tool requested in our Telegram channel. One Iconist wanted to see the countdown to the next term on the web. And we just built it. So, if you have another idea in mind, feel free to suggest!

Our new home

November was also the month we have incorporated as a company. With the first step being, Blockmove s.r.o.(company ID: 08706026) based in Brno, Czech Republic.

Break the rules, not the law

With this company, we can now deal with other legal entities and hire people— finances dependent— to help with our development work. That being said, we still fully intend to register as a non-profit organization in the near future, which is a more time consuming process.
