Some not so new advice on productivity that you need to be reminded of daily
#1 — Stop Procrastinating
If it is on your checklist then either do it and check it off or outsource it to someone else. Stop making list to never complete them! And, if it is something you can complete in 5 minutes don’t wait until tomorrow to do it. Just do it NOW.
If you want to make an easy job seem mighty hard, just keep putting off doing it. ~ Olin Miller
#2 — Get Organized
“For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned.” — How exactly? By eliminating your choices and there for your decisions. Less decisions means less time focused on one specific task. Pick one and go with it. It is all about learning. You cannot learn if you do not fail and you cannot fail if you never try.
“Clutter is nothing more than postponed decisions.” — Barbara Hemphill
#3 — Collaborate
Sometime you don’t always have the answers. Give up the need to be perfect and rely on someone else to add their special touch. Outsourcing your weaknesses is the best advice I think I have ever received. On the other hand, allowing yourself the ability to let someone screw up and learn while under your care takes extreme courage. After you do it the first time it gets easier.
#4 — Expect and don’t sweat the small stuff
Bad stuff will happen, it is inevitable. How you respond to events in your life is a reflection of your own character. Learn to laugh about the little things that happen. I tend to cry, but I am working on it. Dang hormones!
Two rules to follow: 1) Don’t sweat the small stuff. 2) It’s all small stuff.
#5 — Take a break to reflect
You have to take some time to reflect on your accomplishments and evaluate your failures. This cannot happen if you are traveling at 100 mph day-in and day-out. Listen to feedback and correct mistakes early on so they don’t turn into bigger problems later.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. — Mark Twain
Why are you procrastinating? What is your excuse today for what you didn’t get done yesterday, and what you are planning to push off until tomorrow?
