The World Blind Cricket Council has provided rights to Pakistan to host the fourth T20 Blind Cricket World Cup in November 2024. This Blind Cricket event will be marked as the 1st T20 World Cup hosted by Pakistan. Other than this India has hosted it many times and won many previous tournaments back in year 2012, 2017, and 2022.

The India Blind Cricket Team was the first team that confirmed participation in this tournament with other teams like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa, and West Indies to take part in this event in November 2024.

This is not only the first time India is coming to Pakistan, Indian Blind Cricket Team has also visited Pakistan in 2011 and 2014.

WBCC President Syed Sultan Shah responded, “The Indian Blind Cricket Team does not require NOCs from their government for overseas visits and tournaments,” in response to a question concerning India’s reluctance to take part in events in Pakistan. He further added:

“if they did not want to come then they would have said so right away that their government would not allow the team to tour Pakistan.”

“On the other hand, the Indian Blind Cricket Board showed readiness and excitement to play the World Cup in Pakistan,” he added.

The WBCC President also talked about the possible venues saying:

“Karachi is a big international city so our first option to host the tournament will be Karachi but if the Sindh Government does not provide support, then there is a possibility of moving the event to Lahore.”

Shah acknowledged that he corresponded with Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, and Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh.

“Murad Ali Shah gave us the go-ahead to carry out all of the necessary steps to host the event in Karachi.”

Shah will have a meeting with Sindh’s Sports Minister Muhammad Baksh Mehr and discuss preparation matters with him.

It should be mentioned that India has been reluctant to play in the tournament because the Indian government is not providing NOCs because of the tense political relations between the two nations. Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. However, the Indian Blind team’s impending tour to Pakistan raises the prospect of the nation competing in the Champions Trophy the following year.
