So true! And really misses the point. As someone who has spun and knit many complex garments into existence “just because” (not as something to do with my “career” per se, though the design and long term process aspects complement much of the rest of my life, for sure) this question comes up all the time. I think it’s well-intended enough, or at least asked in innocent curiosity, but it does highlight some confusion about what is valuable and how we value it.
