Kehinde Wiley is best known for portraits that feature African Americans in the ancient settings of painter paintings.
Wiley’s childhood experiences within the South Central neighbourhood of l. a. were enriched by his mother’s passion for education. At the age of eleven, he took art at a conservatory at Golden State University, and at twelve years recent he attended a six-week art program outside metropolis (now St. Petersburg) sponsored by the middle for U.S./U.S.S.R. Initiatives. when Wiley graduated from the l. a. County highschool for the humanities, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (1999) at the point of entry Art Institute and a Master of Fine Arts (2001) at the varsity of Art at university.

His impeccably refined technique and ironic nevertheless intellectual interpretation skew high-art traditions whereas giving them new significance.
In 2015 Kehinde Wiley was the recipient of the 2014 National medallion of Arts. Two years later former president Barack Obama chosen Wiley to color his official portrait for the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. The painting unconcealed a mix of convention and invention once it had been disclosed in 2018. Obama, carrying a conventional black suit, sits forward on a mahogany chair with a determined expression on his face and his elbows on his knees.
