“Where’s your blog post?”

They do it out of love!

Before I get started, let me just clearly state that I love my friends. They are an amazing and talented group of individuals who have always supported and motivated me in all avenues of my work. However…for the past few months I have been consistently asked, “Where’s your blog post?” Almost to the point where it happens every time I begin to update them on my personal projects. So here it is

About Me

My name is Jeff Williams and I’m currently a Security Engineer working in healthcare. I also will be completing my studies in Information Assurance from Eastern Michigan University this upcoming Fall semester. InfoSec is something that I am passionate about, and spend most of my free time researching and monitoring security related news and events.

What can you expect to see on here?

I’ll be using this blog both as a portfolio for my personal projects and as an avenue to express my thoughts and opinions on current security related issues.

How did I get into InfoSec?

I plan on doing a more elaborate post on this later on but I figured it’s kind of a question that can’t go unasked in an “intro” post like this. With that being said, I have been interested in computers ever since I was a kid. It really wasn’t until I transferred to EMU, and found out that I could do Information Assurance as a major, that my passion really started. Two of my professors ended up becoming very close mentors of mine and most of my closest friends are people that I met in the Information Assurance Student Association (IASA). Once I started attending hacking competitions and conferences is when I knew there was no turning back.

Stay tuned!

Thank you for taking the time and reading through my first post. I plan on posting a few technical posts in the upcoming week so stay tuned! Cheers!
