Islam Rising

Today Islam in more popular than ever.

In the time of my parents and the time before them Islam was not as popular. My parents had their Punjabi culture and they believed in Allah, but their culture and traditions took precedence over Islam.

Nowadays culture has been supplanted by Islam. My friends and the wider world is far more religious than a generation ago. Due to a dilution of their mother cultures they use Islam as a substitute, so much so that it has become culturally dominant.

There are lots of converts (reverts). I find it surprising that they should choose such a strict religious code. I have been told that many people value the rigid structure, it gives them a sense of identity and peace.

Islam means peace after all.
