Marathon Training — 3 Mile Treadmill Run

Running on the treadmill sucks. I will do it, but very very very begrudgingly. This morning was tough mainly because getting out of bed sounded like the worst idea I could think of at 5AM and closing my eyes for another hour or two sounded so good. But there we were heading out to the car anyways and so I had no choice but to face the music…which I am thankful for. Because that is literally the only thing that helps me get through my treadmill run; music.

Music has always been a big part of my life and being able to incorporate it with exercise has been one of the best things for me. Nothing beats a beautiful summer day and popping your headphones for a nice easy long run. However, music acts as more of a motivator than a “nice to do” when on the treadmill at least in my case. Bruce Springsteen to Drake, you will find me listening to all of it and more on the treadmill.

So my run today: Was doable but very boring and I definitely did not find it as easy as my long run on Sunday. This is probably due to the fact that during the week I really only have the time to roll out of the bed and hop on the treadmill. My total distance was 3 miles at a total time of 33:18. Once again, my heart rate stayed in the cardio zone which is what I want in order to last the length of the marathon (and just the sheer amount of mileage while in training for one.)

All in all, I am glad that I finished the workout but it was not an easy one. But, I got up and got it done, because that’s what you have to do when you have a big goal like a marathon to complete.

Keep running —
