In regards to Slack and Uber as platforms: are there good examples of other $100M+ revenue businesses that have built solely on the backs of others’ APIs?

I think about long established SaaS platforms like Salesforce — a massive company, with lots of good businesses within their platform, but no big, standalone companies that effectively created their opportunity within the space of the proprietary platform.

I believe it is beneficial for the ecosystem to have robust APIs, but it’s very unlikely that big, globally scalable & independent businesses will emerge out of these new platforms.
