i programmed with windows for years. A couple of years ago, I got a MacBook Pro. The Mac has many positive things going for it, but there is one major danger with Mac that is causing me to go back to Windows: The Mac has built in planned obsolescence and it’s only getting worse with the newest MacBooks.
I recently watched some eye-opening videos on Youtube made by a laptop repair guy, and I highly recommend them to you:
I ordered a Lenovo Thinkpad P50. I believe it is far superior to any Mac, and is also a lot cheaper, a lot more durable and, if anything does go wrong, it is easily repairable. It is also easily up-gradable. It has two drive bays, so you can have two drives. I’m planning to install 2 solid state drives, with at least one of them 1TB. You can expand memory up to 64 GB if you want. Under its plastic exterior, it is built like a steel tank!
If your laptop should die for some reason, you want to be able to get your data out of it. With the Lenovo P50, that’s easy, you just remove the drives and use them in a new machine or copy the data to another machine. With the newest Macs, the solid state drives are SOLDERED onto the main board, making data retrieval from a dead machine very problematic.
Another plus for me about the Lenovo P50 is that you can get it with either Windows 7 or Windows 10. I don’t care for Windows 10 and I like the more stable Windows 7, so that is what I am getting on my new machine.
Watch the videos by Louis Rossman I linked to above. He has many more, all of which are fascinating, if you have the time.
