Make Yourself at Home

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him” (Ephesians 3:16 and 17 NLT).

There’s never a doubt that we love our kids, and it’s natural for them to “feel”loved by us, but it’s a great reminder to take a minute and make sure the love is landing. Each of our five kids has a different way that they feel extra-loved. And it’s those personalized love-messages that make them feel like “there’s no place like home”.

Every once in awhile Bob and I get the chance to have a couple of days alone with one of our kids — and that has happened for us this week with our son Robert who is almost 14-years-old. He feels loved when I “get into his world” and listen to his music, watch the youtube videos that make him laugh, and eat the food he loves to eat. Even though his music may not be my first choice — it’s just a matter of time when I realize it’s not about the music or the food at all, it’s about connecting with this amazing kid. And he makes my heart melt.

If loving someone means “getting into their world”, allow God to get into yours. Invite him into your favorite songs, your favorite food and the things that make you laugh. Let him be your best friend today.

Today is my day to enjoy Jesus. I want Him to make himself at home in my heart as I trust Him.

It’s fight for your family Friday — get into their world, laugh with what makes them laugh and let your heart melt.

We are praying for you!

Love Audrey and Bob
