Maybe? I’m thinking out loud! Mobility’s a good answer as to why journalists who have watched their friends and colleague struggle, lose their jobs, leave their industries don’t easily identify with this class of voter: they’re already more mobile by the time they take the jobs, and therefore less inwardly focused? Buyouts may be part of that (although average newspaper salaries aren’t great, even compared with mining.)
