As an avid reader and lifelong learner, there’s nothing quite like the anticipation and excitement of embarking on a new literary journey.

Each year, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to explore a diverse range of genres, themes, and perspectives through the pages of carefully selected books.

This year, my reading list reflects a deep-seated curiosity and a desire to delve into topics that both challenge and inspire me.

Curating a list of twelve books isn’t merely about selecting titles; it’s about unveiling a part of my bookish soul, revealing the themes and ideas that resonate deeply within me.

These books are more than just ink on paper; they’re portals to new worlds, windows into the human experience, and guides for personal growth and understanding.

I’ll introduce you to each book, sharing the reasons why it has earned a place on my reading list. From new releases that promise to captivate my imagination to timeless classics that beckon for rediscovery, each title holds the potential to expand my horizons, challenge my perspectives, and enrich my life in ways both profound and unexpected.

  1. 8 Rules of Love by Jay Shetty

My first book is Jay Shetty’s and that’s because I follow his podcast closely.

He has this authentic tone of voice that makes listening to his podcast and reading his books an enjoyable and calming experience. To be honest it's a must-listen and read for anyone looking for inspiration, motivation, and guidance on their journey towards a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Shetty lays out specific, actionable steps to help one develop the skills to practice and nurture love better than ever before. He shares insights on how to win or lose together, how to define love, and why you don’t break in a break-up

2. Surrounded by Idiots Series by Thomas Erikson

As someone who is always looking to improve my understanding of others, I found this book to be both enlightening and engaging.

I found that Surrounded by Idiots has follow up books. Surrounded by psychopaths, surrounded by setbacks, Surrounded by Narcissists & more recently Surrounded by energy vampires.

Erikson’s series promises to shed light on personality types and communication styles, offering valuable insights for navigating the complexities of social interactions.

3. Autobiography of Alex Ferguson

Reading Alex Ferguson’s autobiography is a must for any true football fan, but I have to be honest here, I have been intimidated by the sheer size of the book and the thought of committing to such a lengthy read.

As one of the most successful football managers in history, Ferguson’s memoir promises to offer valuable insights into leadership, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence, both on and off the field.

I know that reading this autobiography would be a valuable and insightful experience, so I’m making a conscious effort to prioritize it and overcome my laziness.

4. Limitless by Jim Kwik

Kwik’s book offers actionable strategies for optimizing brain performance, boosting productivity, and achieving peak mental fitness

He is also another person I follow closely on YouTube because of his brilliance, and I recommend you do too as he shares his personal experiences and scientific research to help individuals unlock their full potential

Re-reading a book can be a very comforting and nostalgic experience.

7. The Power of Regret by Daniel Pink

This book title fascinates me because I am always on the lookout for titles that offer unique perspectives on personal growth and development. And with a title like The Power of Regret, how could I resist?

This one was highly anticipated because Adiche’s storytelling is just exquisite. If you've read her collection “The thing around your neck” I'm sure, you'll definitely relate.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s The Visit is part of Black Stars, a multi-dimensional collection of speculative fiction from Black authors.
