T-Mobile is absolutely violating both the spirit and letter of net neutrality. The success of the Internet ecosystem is due to having intelligence at the edges of the network with data pipes that don’t discriminate. “Zero-rating” is clearly discriminating against any traffic which is not zero-rated.
I have rooted for John Legere’s constructive disruption of a oligopic industry. T-Mobile is directly responsible for bringing the mobile phone business into the 21st century.
But Legere is wrong here. The Internet is FAR more important than the success of any one company or even any one industry. We need to protect the infrastructure that has fueled our economy and our lives from proprietary corruption of one company.
I support the EFF, and I hope you do too. The quality of our future depends on it.
