Excellent article, thanks Nafeez. There’s a great book on the subject of new economic thinking by Kate Raworth, who teaches at Oxford University’s Environmental Change Institute. It’s called “Doughnut Economics — Seven Ways To Think Like A 21st Century Economist”, it came out a few months ago and is a very interesting read and actually puts forward some good ideas, showing how some of them are already being put into practice, albeit mostly on a small scale at the moment but showing some proof of principle. I found it very helpful in understanding where (and why) economics is at the moment and also very hopeful for the future so long as the ideas presented are put into practice on larger scales than presently (and also more often). Well worth a read anyway.
