There are lots of common issues that Americans have, that don’t fall on the federal government to address. The fewer the better in my opinion. In the case of health care, although everybody wants it available nowhere near a majority saw it as a problem. Over 80% of Americans were happy with health care before Obamacare. Fewer than 10% of Americans lacked medical insurance. It’s a federal concern now because Progressives ruined it. The simplest thing to do now would be to repeal Obamacare and start from where we were before Progressives broke it.
The government shouldn’t penalize employers for creating jobs by requiring them to provide insurance. Such a policy leaves out people who work for small employers and makes it harder to create jobs for people who are looking for employment.
Single payer, or some other form of national (I hate that word) medical insurance would make it easier on employers since they wouldn’t need to concern themselves with that benefit. Also the medical coverage in auto, property, and all liability insurance policies could be eliminated.
Unless health care is available to everybody without qualification it doesn’t meet the “general welfare” clause.
