65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance
The 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance is considered the finest exhibition of show cars. This year, it will be help on Sunday, August 16, 2015. Since its founding in 1950, the exhibition has showcased the finest show cars to the world. Each August, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance brings together rare and antique automobiles, motorcar enthusiasts and automotive luminaries from around the world.
Showcasing the Automotive World’s Significant “Firsts”
The Concours d’Elegance has always served as the place to showcase some of the automotive world’s most significant “firsts.” For example, in 1985 it served as the first-ever gathering of the only six Bugatti Royales ever made. This specific type of vehicle is considered the world’s most valuable car. Other luxury and rare brands featured over the years include Ferrari, Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The Concours d’Elegance also displays many automakers’ current prototypes for a glimpse at the future.
Features at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours
The 2015 Pebble Beach Concours will feature a range of rare and unique vehicles and exhibits including:
- The marque that bears the duPont name will be well represented with just over 30 of the only versions of the American classics known to exist.
- Creations by Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring, dating from 1928 to the present, will include the very collectable Alfa Romeo 8C, Ferrari 212 Inter/Export and Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta.
- Historic Mercury Customs will also be features. This brand is considered the definitive custom car and was popular for its customizing options from the late 1940s to early 1950s.
- The 75th anniversary of the Lincoln Continental and the 50th anniversary of the Shelby GT350 Mustang will also be featured.
Ferraris Take Center Stage
Ferraris are set to take center stage at the 65th annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. According to Sandra Button, Concours Chairman, “Our plans to feature Ferrari have been many years in the making…But it seems particularly appropriate to be showcasing this marque now, since a Ferrari earned our top award this past year.” The car in mention belongs to Jon Shirley and is a 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe. This was not first Ferrari to be named Best of Show at the event, however it was the first postwar car to win in nearly 50 years.
How Can I Attend?
General Admission tickets to the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 16, are $300 in advance and $350 on day of show.
