Don’t screw up Kerbal Space Program 2, please

A few years ago, I had a rather nasty break up that left me pretty depressed. A few games helped getting me back into myself. I spent nights playing Minecraft while watching the entire TNG, DS9 and VOY, mining and building buildings. Another game that I have rather fond memories is Kerbal Space Program. I remember building a(n implausible) ship and spending days and days trying to find a way to achieve hypersonic velocity in the Kerbin upper atmosphere.

I have a strong feeling that Kerbal Space Program is similar for the next generation of engineers in the making. I learned about Newtonian physics in school, and had a general grasp of orbital mechanics. But it was only after starting to play KSP that I’ve finally understood things like Apoapsis, Max Q, and Hohmann transfers.

That’s why I was pretty excited when I heard about the release of KSP2. It seems to have all I ever wanted on KSP (interstellar travel, bases, etc). However the more I thought about it, the more apprehensive I’ve become. Like Scott Manley, I had doubts about the scope and if the end result could live up to the original game.

More people might play GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, or Battlefield. Those games might entertain you and let you blow shit up. But KSP 2 is the game that those who will build the ships that might take us to the final frontier will play; it’s the game that will inspire them and make them dream about what they can build when they grow up. I really do feel like KSP might be one of the most important games ever made. So, devs of Star Theory — no pressure, but, please don’t screw this up.
