At the time of the Revolutionary War, about 20 percent of Americans, including Benjamin Franklin’s son, believed that America should remain a British colony. To this 20 percent, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and their entire revolutionary gang were The Enemy of The People.
It took the Indiana legislature passing a homophobic law to get us there, but Americans are finally starting to admit that we have a very real problem with religion in this country. Now is the time for a serious conversation about the role of religion in public policy.
