Why your new years resolutions mean absolutely nothing. 


Let’s face it. Most of you make new resolutions every year, desperately hoping to become a better person because that is what you think you deserve. There’s some good and some bad news in this. The good news is that you do deserve to be a better person. The bad news, on the other hand, is that a resolution is never going to make you a better person.

Here’s why: resolutions are just dreams. And guess what, dreams never come true unless you make them a reality.

It pisses me of that January is the month in which most gym memberships are sold, while February is the month in which most gym memberships are cancelled. Those people have been so determined to lose weight that they even decided to act like it and went to the gym a couple of times, yet none of them was bound for success because they simply expected results, not change.

If you’re overweight you can’t just say you are going to lose weight, because that would mean for you to not only completely change your mindset but your entire lifestyle. Saying you are going to accomplish something is never enough, you must act like it, and even more importantly, you can not simply expect results if it is change you fear. Change will be painful and it will take a long time. Most people get discouraged when not seeing results in a short amount of time and so they quit, they maintain the status quo and choose to be comfortable. The worst part, however, is that a year later these same people will make resolutions again.

All I want you to take from this rant is that you can not expect results if you’re not willing to change. Don’t be stupid. Don’t make any resolutions, set goals instead. Aim high, set a tight deadline and don’t get discouraged if you do not reach your goals. Success is inevitable if you are willing to change. Or, in the words of Jack Dixon:

“If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.”
