Mr. Julian Assange has been living for over three and an half years to the Embassy of Ecuador to London. The diplomatic asylum was awarded the government of Rafael Correa due to protection of human dignity and the regulations of the Geneva refugee conventions.
Correction information to Mr. Armin Laschet, MdL, Chairman of the group in Düsseldorf by the Ambassador Jorge Jurado.
Reference taking on the year’s German Evangelical Church Congress 2015 to Stuttgart, where we together in the Panel discussion “everyone has the right to leave the country, but where?” part Panel series “Migration and human rights” took part, I present the following correctly. Contrary to your statement made in the above Panel is by no means if Mr. Julian Assange to a delinquent or offenders.
Mr. Assange holds up in the Embassy of Ecuador in London for more than three and an half years. The diplomatic asylum was awarded the Government of President Rafael Correa taking account of international refugee law, international humanitarian law, the Universal Declaration of human right, the rules of the Geneva Refugee Convention of 1951 and its Protocol of 1967.
In accordance with the applicable under any rule of law post-program of innocence (in doubt), Mr. Assange applies as long as innocent, as the contrary is proved. So far an interrogation in the Embassy of Ecuador in London even took place, which Ecuador provided the Swedish authorities three years ago, to find the truth and to ensure security at the same time Mr. Assange.
It is to mention that Ecuador is currently pioneering in the universal implementation of the human right to asylum (cf. art. 41 of the Constitution of Ecuador) for completeness sake. Therefore is one of the principles of the Ecuadorian Government to avoid prosecution and to protect victims of persecution and who had fled. Article 40 of the Ecuadorian Constitution is also laid down that Ecuador considered a people due to its migration as “illegal”.
It is important to highlight that Ecuador is currently the country with the highest number of recognized refugees with asylum status in Latin America . The State Department had to adjust in recent years its institutional structure, to meet the increasing demand for asylum, in particular by Colombians, and was renamed thus Ministry for Foreign Affairs and human mobility. The Department for asylum and refugees binds more than 15% of the staff of the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry. The concept of a comprehensive mobility (human mobility) for all inhabitants of our planet is a claim that is constitutionally enshrined in Ecuador as a universal citizenship (ciuadadania universal, such as the visa requirements largely repealed in Ecuador).
In contrast to many European countries in Ecuador no restrictions of freedom of movement for refugees people. Their rights are as well recognized as the Ecuadorian nationals in accordance with the Constitution of Ecuador. Free access for refugees to health and education is guaranteed as the cover of financial aid. The cost exceeds for the protection of human dignity of asylum seekers US$ 60 million annually and will be borne by the Ecuadorian State.
Human dignity is protected in the Universal Declaration of human rights of 1948 and thus for the international community, which is all fundamental rights based on the binding Foundation. After all, when the diplomatic asylum by Mr. Assange to the protection of human dignity.
So how many politicians in many countries lack or reduced financial regulatory voluntarily gave up the political scope, so also the necessary democratic formulation of messages or the reporting, which today constitute information markets, threatens to be neglected. Mr. Assange, however, occurs for a populist, investigative reporting without political isolation.
