It is quite possible Trump doesn’t know he’s lying — few narcissits do, plus, we’ll never really know because whatever he claims will likely be a lie too. The bigger issue — which Conway knows full well, but avoids — is that someone who doesn’t know the difference between lying and telling the truth is not fit for public office. Public officials — including the President — take an oath that includes and is based on the understanding that the public can count on them not to lie. (Remember Clinton’s impeachment — it was based on the fact that he lied about certain aspects of his personal relationship with Lewinsky). Trump’s lies, whether conscious or not, extend well-beyond what Clinton was impeached for and Conway knows it; it’s surprising how shameless she is, but Conway’s current spin may well land her in hot water — there are elements of “aiding and abetting” written all over her interview …
