Changing How I Start My Day

By far, my most popular article on Medium has been my very first one, How I Start My Day. In that article, I included some tips and lessons for creating a morning routine and detailed what was my morning routine at the time.

However, my morning routine is different now, and I’m not sure if it’s evolving or just changing a lot. I would like to think it’s getting better, but it may not be.

I think it’s good to keep your morning routine flexible, but at the same time that kind of defeats the purpose of a “routine.” I think I’m doing the right thing. Usually the first draft isn’t the best. My current flexible routine is a paradox of some sort, but I’m just experimenting with different things and finding out what works. I intend to have something worked out by the new year.

I have been a little lazy about keeping my morning routines, so it may be due for a major remodeling. Perhaps I should reduce it down to just three task and religiously follow them for a month. After I get them down, then I can add a few more. The three major habits I would like to form are reading, meditating/praying, and exercising.

Right now I am just doing a lot of research on morning routines. What are best habits to form, tips for discipline/motivation, etc. For the month of December I am going to experiment with some different routines and habits and decide on something by January 1st. The goal for 2018 is to follow my morning routine every day without fail. That would be a tremendous accomplishment that would reap a lot of benefits.
