What I have learned from class

After class, now I have a better view about how one bus away was designed. At first, the design group worked with the transmit agency in order to obtain a more detailed data. However, this part was also the hardest one because the unprecised information. They also got the raw GPJ data, which allows the app to show the moving status of bus. There is one aspect that especially stood out to me: the desigeners coordiated different modes for flexible uses such as voice mode. For example, when it is not convenient for user to check the screen, he can use the voice mode to know when the next bus will come.

For the usability test part, the research determines their purpose at first. They are: to evaluate do user understand the early access, can user identify what the “next step” option are and do customer understand the benifit to hold a card. In the usability test project for Norstrom, the part which stood out for me iswhen research received feedback which said the tab and left navigator color treatment, they decided to make it easier to access. Before I had the lecture, what I thought is that designer should mainly focus on parts which show flaw in usability test. But due to the instance, I understand that improving “strong” part to a higher level is also an important part in design.

Based on what I learned from these professional projects, now I know how to improve my previous work. For my interaction design project which need to collect noise level data for the scientists, at first I should communicate with some researcher on noise area. Because it can not only make me understand what kind of data they want, but also navigate me to design my app. For the usability test, at first I should determine the purpose of the whole test so that I can make the test more organized. Also, based on feedback, I should pay attention to the “strong” parts of product and try to elavate them to a higher level.
